Doris was my great aunt, a modest, old-school Italian-American. She was the product of a vibrant community that immigrated to what became my hometown. She wasn’t pretentious; she served wine from a box, but it paired perfectly with her accent, warmth, and home cooking.
These barrels blended for DORIS are a nod to the garage wines I grew up around, generous and made for the table. They enable me to select the best lots for the single-vineyard wines, while also allowing me room to experiment with new varietals and blends. These wines are not a compromise but a deliberate choice.
DORIS White Table Wine is all about energy and drinkability. This vintage is a dry, Mediterranean-style white wine made from 100% Picpoul Blanc, sourced from right in town. Known for its crisp acidity and bright citrus character, this wine is perfect for the table. We are currently trialing this varietal with the goal of making it a single-vineyard source in the future.

The 2023 Doris Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from three organically farmed vineyards. Two late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon sites anchor the blend: Warm Springs Ranch in Glen Ellen and a parcel of bush vines from the Waterman Vineyard in Eldridge—both valley floor vineyards known for producing structured, wines with plenty of depth. The Merlot comes from the Pickberry Vineyard on the far side of Sonoma Mountain, where cooler conditions and compact clay soils lend lift, freshness and a savory edge to the blend.

The Red Table Wine was the first DORIS wine we ever made—a blend born out of necessity and a commitment to crafting honest, unpretentious wines meant for the table. A “vino de tavola” style wine produced from barrels of Barbera that showed a more modern edge than its rustic single vineyard counterpart. Approachable, versatile, and easy to love, this wine reflects our belief that great wine doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to be shared.
