NOTES
This season we took the opportunity to explore Sonoma Valley’s heritage varietal, Zinfandel, for our rosé.

This Zinfandel comes from a 2.2-acre, head-trained, young-vine planting in Kenwood called “Avril.” Harvested at 19.4 brix, the fruit was whole cluster pressed into a combination of stainless-steel and neutral oak barrels. We guided the wine through a long, cold, native fermentation, stirring the primary lees every so often to help with color development.  We allowed the wine to go through a partial secondary fermentation to soften the edges, before bringing it back to cellar temperature, where a small dose of sulfur was added. The wine was then filtered and bottled for early release.
